writing

words, words, words

I've always had a habit of talking to myself. Eventually, I turned this habit into something only slightly less crazy -- I took up writing. You know, so now when someone catches me mumbling to myself, I can say that I'm working on a bit of dialogue.

I am primarily a short story writer; I find an incredible amount of room to play in the realm of prose. I go through poetry phases sometimes, and even though I've created a few poems that I actually kind of like, I'll never feel comfortable calling myself a poet. Maybe it's because saying "I'm a poet" doesn't really fit my self definition. I can't say.

What I can say is this: here you'll find an assortment of things I've written. Most of it is a couple of years old and has been here (and probably on LitKicks) before... I lost all of my recent work (and a great deal of old stuff) to a computer virus, but I'm rebuilding slowly. The poetry is what it is. All of the prose is in sketch form, meaning that it's very short and sparse. I'm working out a plan to workshop my novel on this site, but I haven't quite figured that out yet.

I guess that'll do it.
