sincerely, stupid
A couple of nights ago, I got to hang out for awhile with my friend Susan, someone I've known since I was 12. We got to talking about high school and how dumb we were, and really, rehashing your own stupidity with a friend who was right there with you through all the stupid, well, that's a comedy goldmine. When you were 14, did you have any idea that your 20-something self would find you so hilarious? Of course not. And that's what makes it endearingly beautiful*... the earnestness of it all. When I was younger, I meant everything with my whole heart, for better or worse.

Anyway, after I got home, I was overcome with remembering precisely how dumb I was, and I went searching through all of my stuff for artifacts from my stupid past. I hit the motherlode when I found my journal, and because it made me laugh until I couldn't breathe, and also because I like to bask in public humiliation, I'm going to share a couple of choice bits with you now. Awesome.

July 14 Yay! Today I got my braces off, finally. I have incredibly straight teeth. Yay! (Again.) Then, I went to writing class. That was a lot of fun. Then, I went to see a movie with Tom Cruise. Well, actually, I didn't go to the movies with Tom Cruise, but the movie had Tom Cruise in it. Duh. Then, I went BACK to the orthodontist to get my retainers. Two people got their braces off today. One person wanted a blue sparkle retainer and one person wanted a regular one. Guess who got the blue sparkle retainer? GUESS WHO DIDN'T WANT THE BLUE SPARKLE RETAINER? That's right: ME! It looks gross and I want to die. OK, no, but it still looks GROSS. It is BLUE!!!!!!!!!!! I get a normal one like I wanted for free because I complained. So that is good and I am happy.

Tom Cruise can run fast.

[undated] Today was the last performance of The Music Man. It was weird. I am glad to be done. Plays make me tired but they are SO MUCH FUN. Except I fell down because it was dark and I felt stupid but they should really have more lights in that one part. I do not know what is going ON because in that scene where I have to stand next to YOU KNOW WHO he was totally like rubbing my back which is NOT in the script and he never did that before so I don't know what is up with that. I elbowed him in the ribs kind of hard which was sorta mean but why are boys so stupid and weird all the time? Like whatever. I don't like him except sometimes when he is cute. Which is a lot.

Also, I hate geometry.







*Well, that, and cringe-worthy.
